About this Speaker
A dedicated tennis and general sports professional with 10+ years experience in coaching and touring with players as well as assisting African Federations with their coaches and development projects. Kenyan Davis Cup Captain and Technical Director as well as previously Fed Cup Captain. Twice the All African Games Kenyan team coach and currently a member of the Elite Performance Committee in Kenya, formed to assist the Kenyan National Olympic team in preparation for Olympics. Graduate from the University of Pretoria with a Bachelor of Arts Human Movement Science Degree and Honors in Sports Science. A tutor for both level I and II coaching courses and currently a level III coach. Was previously the assistant coach at the ITF/TSA training centre in South Africa working with top juniors in Africa and later the assistant tennis coach at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria. While at the HPC, was also one of the mentors to the athletes at the academy with sports like soccer, swimming, athletics, judo, golf and triathlon amongst others. Momentarily spending time mentoring athletes, on and off the court, about life in general as well as about sports. This is to enable some of the older players to start finding meaning in their lives beyond being athletes, like joining the coaches as assistants and developing their coaching careers. My passion and interests are in developing young African athletes and youth holistically. Help in using sport to improve standards of living and general education. I have hope that as far as tennis development in Kenya and Africa, the projects set in place today should ensure future increase in the number of Kenyan players competing Internationally and the number of African players in the top 100 of the WTA and ATP rankings.
